The Context

ESPR and batteries:
a requirement that
becomes an advantage.

From 18 February 2027 the Battery Passport is mandatory across the EU; for textiles and apparel the Digital Product Passport will arrive with the ESPR delegated act, expected in 2027. Brands that move first turn a regulatory requirement into their most powerful marketing tool.

73%

of Gen Z consumers prefer brands that disclose detailed product origin. Transparency justifies craftsmanship and increases purchase intent.

How it works

Four steps.
Permanent value.

From entering production to certified resale. One single process, recorded on the blockchain, ready for the ESPR and for the Battery Passport (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542), integrated with your supply chain.

  1. 01

    Digitise

Choose your entry point — NFC, QR, RFID or API — and create the certified “Digital Twin” of the product right on the production line.

  2. 02

    Record

Product information is recorded, approved and stored on the blockchain in an immutable, tamper-proof way.

  3. 03

    Connect

The customer claims the product with their own ID and accesses its full history in the app: warranty, authenticity, exclusive content, digital wardrobe.

  4. 04

    Update & Resell

Maintenance, repairs and ownership transfers are recorded in real time. The product retains and increases its value on the secondary market.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.
Clear answers.

Everything entrepreneurs, brand managers and supply-chain leads ask us before adopting the Digital Product Passport.

  • What exactly is a Digital Product Passport?

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a permanent digital identity linked to a physical product. It gathers the relevant information — origin, materials, ownership history, certifications, care instructions and sustainability data — and is accessible via QR code or NFC tag. The EU ESPR regulation ((EU) 2024/1781) makes it mandatory for the product groups defined by its delegated acts: the first, for steel and textiles, are expected between 2026 and 2027. For batteries, the Battery Passport is mandatory from 18 February 2027. With MyLime, data is also anchored on the blockchain, guaranteeing immutability and verifiability.
  • Does MyLime’s DPP also cover the Battery Passport?

Yes, it’s already ready. From 18 February 2027, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 makes the Battery Passport mandatory for electric vehicle batteries (cars, motorcycles), for light means of transport (LMT) batteries — e-bikes, e-scooters — regardless of capacity, and for industrial batteries above 2 kWh, including those of electric boats. MyLime integrates the Battery Passport (cell chemistry, recycled content, carbon footprint, state of health) into the same Digital Product Passport as the vehicle, with a single QR/NFC and no separate system to manage.
  • How long does it take to implement MyLime?

The full process — from signing the contract to go-live — typically takes 10–12 weeks. It includes platform configuration, integration with existing systems (ERP/CRM), NFC/QR tag production, content upload and team training. For pilot projects on a specific product line, timelines can be significantly shorter.
  • Is my data and my customers’ data safe?

Yes. MyLime is designed on the principle of privacy by design. Sensitive customer data is never recorded on the public blockchain — only verifiable cryptographic hashes are. Personal data is handled in compliance with the GDPR and stored on certified European servers. The brand always retains full control over product data.
  • Does it work for products already sold (retrofit)?

Yes. MyLime’s Retrofit programme lets you attach a Digital Product Passport to products already on the market. The brand sends NFC tags to existing customers, who apply them to the product and complete the authentication process via the app. Colnago has already successfully run this programme for thousands of historic bikes.
  • Which blockchain do you use, and why?

We primarily use the Polygon (PoS) blockchain, chosen for its energy efficiency (99.9% less than Ethereum PoW), minimal transaction costs and full EVM compatibility. For some enterprise cases we also use private or hybrid blockchain solutions. The choice of blockchain is assessed case by case based on the brand’s specific needs.
  • How does it integrate with my existing systems (ERP, CRM)?

MyLime offers full RESTful APIs and webhooks to integrate with any existing system. We have pre-built connectors for the main ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot). The Pro plan includes a dedicated integration team that handles the entire technical process without requiring internal resources from the brand.
  • What happens if the NFC tag is damaged or removed?

MyLime’s NFC tags are designed and integrated so that removing them visibly damages the product — it’s part of the patented anti-tampering system. In case of accidental damage, the brand can issue a certified replacement tag via the Production App, keeping the product’s blockchain history intact. The method is patented and holds legal evidentiary value.
  • Is the DPP already mandatory? What are the risks if I don’t comply?

It depends on the product. The EU ESPR regulation ((EU) 2024/1781) has been in force since 18 July 2024, but the DPP obligation only kicks in with the delegated act for each product group: the first are expected for iron and steel (2026) and for textiles and apparel (2027), with obligations that typically apply 18 months later. The first passport already fixed in law is the Battery Passport, mandatory from 18 February 2027. Where the DPP is required, a product without one cannot be placed on the EU market; penalties are set by member states. Those who start today reach the deadline with a system already proven, while using the DPP as a marketing tool in the meantime.
