Digital Product Passport for Cycling

Cycling is the industry where MyLime set the standard. Colnago was the first manufacturer in the world to launch a bicycle with a 1:1 NFT — the C68 Limited Edition — using MyLime to certify every frame. The model has been extended to 3T for components. E-bike batteries, of any capacity, must have the Battery Passport from 18 February 2027; for frames and components the DPP is currently voluntary.

Regulatory framework

Battery Passport + voluntary DPP

In cycling, the obligation that matters today is the Battery Passport: from 18 February 2027 every e-bike battery placed on the EU market must have one, regardless of capacity. Bicycles, frames and components are not among the priorities of the 2025–2030 ESPR Working Plan: for them the DPP is voluntary. MyLime provides a single digital identity that covers the battery and adds value to the frame and components.

  • 18 Feb 2027 · Battery Passport for every e-bike battery (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542)
  • Frames and components · voluntary DPP, outside the 2025–2030 ESPR priorities
  • Directive (EU) 2024/1799 · right to repair

Why act now

Colnago and 3T are already live. The industry is following

Premium cycling manufacturers are the most advanced in DPP adoption, because the product is high-value, heavily counterfeited and resold. The e-bike Battery Passport will be mandatory from 18 February 2027: those who don’t prepare now risk finding themselves shut out of the secondhand market and behind on battery compliance.

Industry FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the NFC tag work in a carbon frame?
Yes. MyLime developed a patented solution with Colnago for integration into carbon without compromising stiffness or weight. The tag is readable from any NFC-enabled smartphone.
Can I apply the DPP to archive bikes?
Yes. Colnago’s Retrofit programme is already active for thousands of historic bikes. The owner receives a certified tag to apply at an authorised workshop.
How is data sharing with a team handled?
The DPP supports multiple roles: brand, team, athlete, owner. Each role sees the relevant fields and signs its own updates.
