Digital Product Passport for Watchmaking and Jewellery

High-end watches and jewellery are value assets that change hands many times and require decades of maintenance. MyLime’s DPP replaces the paper warranty booklet with an immutable digital certificate: movement, materials, diamond traceability (Kimberley Process), service history, tracked ownership transfers.

Regulatory framework

Voluntary DPP · Kimberley Process, responsible gold

Watchmaking and jewellery are not among the priorities of the 2025–2030 ESPR Working Plan: the DPP is voluntary. What already applies, however, are well-established supply-chain obligations and standards: the Kimberley Process certification scheme for rough diamonds, the EU conflict minerals regulation ((EU) 2017/821) for those importing gold into the EU above certain thresholds, and the LBMA and RJC standards for responsible gold.

  • Kimberley Process · certified rough diamonds
  • Regulation (EU) 2017/821 · due diligence on imported gold
  • LBMA and RJC · responsible gold
  • Voluntary DPP · immediate competitive advantage

Why act now

A luxury watch is worth its history. Without a verifiable certificate, value decays

The secondary watch market is growing at double-digit rates. Pieces without papers lose 30–40% of their value. The DPP is the digital papers — immutable and accessible in two seconds.

Use cases

What MyLime does for your industry

Six concrete applications of the Digital Product Passport, already live on brands in the industry.

Calibre, reference, year, manufacturing site and master watchmaker signed on the blockchain.

  • Diamond traceability

Origin, cut, weight, GIA/IGI certificate integrated into the DPP for every set stone.

  • Service history

Every overhaul, part replacement and adjustment recorded by the authorised centre.

  • Certified anti-theft

Industry FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the DPP replace the paper warranty booklet?
It can: the DPP keeps proof of purchase and the piece’s warranty history in immutable digital form. Many brands still keep the paper booklet as a perceived-value object, pairing it with the DPP.
Can I integrate the GIA diamond certificate?
Yes. The GIA/IGI certificate number is integrated as a structured field and the original PDF is archived. The consumer verifies the reference directly on the lab’s website.
How are vintage or auction pieces handled?
Through Retrofit. The brand or a certified expert issues the DPP starting from photographic and documentary evidence. The piece enters digital traceability from the moment of certification.
