Battery Passport and DPP for Electric Mobility
The EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 introduces the Battery Passport, mandatory from 18 February 2027, for EV batteries (electric cars and motorcycles) and LMT batteries (e-bikes, e-scooters), regardless of capacity, and for every industrial battery above 2 kWh — including those of electrically propelled boats. The Batteries Regulation introduces obligations on recycled content (cobalt, lithium, nickel, lead), carbon footprint, durability and the Battery Passport, mandatory from 18 February 2027 for EV and LMT batteries, with no capacity threshold, and for industrial batteries above 2 kWh. It applies to economic operators placing batteries on the EU market.
