Digital Product Passport for Designer Furniture

Italian design is the most imitated cultural product in the world. Designer seating, lamps and furniture — Castiglioni, Magistretti, Mendini — outlive generations and change hands many times. MyLime’s DPP certifies the author, edition, year of production and provenance, protecting brand, designer and collector. Furniture is among the priorities of the ESPR Working Plan, with a delegated act expected in 2028: until then, the DPP is voluntary.

Furniture is among the priority product groups of the 2025–2030 ESPR Working Plan, with delegated-act adoption indicated for 2028 and obligations that will typically apply 18 months later. Already applicable today are trademark protection (Regulation (EU) 2017/1001) and FSC/PEFC wood certification; the obligations of the EU deforestation regulation (EUDR) are on the way.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply the DPP to historic pieces already in a collection?
Yes, through the Retrofit programme. The designer’s foundation or archive issues the certificate; the owner receives a tag to apply on the back or another non-visible spot.
Is the tag aesthetically compatible with designer pieces?
MyLime’s design tags are 8–15 mm and applied in hidden spots (underneath the base, on the back, inside a drawer). Aesthetically invisible, readable in two seconds.
How is an auction handled with a DPP?
The auction house verifies the DPP, records the new owner (with optional privacy) and signs the transfer. Tracked lots achieve, on average, higher valuations.
